Levesque, Weinrich heading to Maine Sports Hall

Former Falmouth soccer and basketball standout Roger Levesque and one-time North Yarmouth Academy hockey star Eric Weinrich are among nine members of the Maine Sports Hall of Fame’s 2015 induction class. Levesque is a 1999 Falmouth High graduate, who went on to play soccer at Stanford and with the Seattle Sounders. Weinrich played hockey at the University of Maine and spent 17 years in the National Hockey League, accumulating 388 points in 1,157 games. The 2015 class will be inducted Sunday, May 3 at the Augusta Civic Center. Tickets are $40 for hall members and $50 for non-members. FMI, 649-9367 or rlwhitmo@colby.edu.

Freeport coaching openings

Yarmouth hoops fundraiser Friday

Yarmouth’s basketball program will hold its annual fundraiser for the Tim White Memorial Scholarship Friday when the Clippers host Freeport in a doubleheader (the girls’ varsity game is at 5:30 p.m., the boys’ tip off at 7 p.m.). White was a dedicated and fearless community leader who, as President of the Yarmouth Basketball Boosters, was a driving force in the planning and construction of the Yarmouth High School outdoor basketball courts. White lost his battle with ALS in 2010.Tim White Night raises money for a scholarship that is awarded to one graduating senior from the girls’ and boys’ teams.

Western Maine umpire classes upcoming
