Local soccer stars excel overseas

Falmouth’s J.P. White and Sam White, along with other local players, were part of a U-16 USA team which won the recent Four Nations Soccer tournament in Durham, England, beating England (3-2), Wales (1-0) and Scotland (3-0). In the victory over England, Sam White had three assists and was named the game’s most valuable player.

Box lacrosse tournament coming to Portland

Portland’s Fitzpatrick Stadium will host the Rock The Box, 5-on-5 National Box Lacrosse tournament Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Box lacrosse is played with four field players and one goalie and has the same rules as field lacrosse. FMI, rockthebox.com.

Yarmouth football holding camp

Yarmouth High varsity football coach Jim Hartman and his staff will host a 1st-and-Ten Football camp next month, teaching the fundamentals of the sport, as well as offensive and defensive schemes. Tim Thomas Hockey Camp upcoming

Current National Hockey League All-Star, USA Olympian, Vezina Trophy winner and Boston Bruin Tim Thomas will host a hockey camp July 26-30 at the Falmouth Family Ice Center. The camp is for forwards, defenders and goalies, boys and girls, ages 6 to 17. FMI, timthomashockey.com.

Mainley Stars field hockey camp next month

The Mainley Stars field hockey camp, taught by the Greely High coaching staff and some players, will teach all skill levels, July 12 through 15. Times are 9 a.m. to 12 p.m for younger players and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for older athletes. The camp is held at the Greely high school field hockey field. The morning session is $90, full day is $180. Freeport coaching openings

RSU No. 5 has several coaching openings for the upcoming school year. Freeport High School is seeking a girls’ varsity basketball coach, a girls’ JV soccer coach, an assistant varsity football coach and an assistant Nordic ski coach. Durham Middle School needs boys’ and girls’ cross country coaches, as well as a girls’ ‘B’ basketball coach. At Freeport Middle School, there are openings for boys’ basketball, 7th grade boys’ soccer, girls’ lacrosse and field hockey and 8th grade baseball and boys’ and girls’ lacrosse. FMI, 865-4706.
