Falmouth youth hoops registration upcoming

Falmouth Youth Basketball Association will open registration for coaches and players for the 2010-11 season Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Falmouth High School library. You don’t have to be present to register, but registration must be received by that day. A form can be downloaded at falmouthyouthhoops.org. The annual meeting will also be held that night at 8 p.m., in the library. Evaluations for fifth-eighth grade boys and girls, mandatory for team placement, will be held at Falmouth Middle School on Tuesday, Oct. 6 (girls in fifth and sixth grade go from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and seventh and eighth grade girls go from 7:30 to 9 p.m.) and Wednesday, Oct. 7 (boys in fifth and sixth grade go from 6 to 7:30 p.m., seventh and eighth graders 7:30 to 9 p.m.).

NYA coaching openings

North Yarmouth Academy is seeking a middle school boys’ basketball, Nordic ski coach and an upper school swimming coach for the winter season. FMI, 846-9051 or nya.org.

Greely coaching openings

SAD 51 has several winter coaching openings. At Greely Middle School, co-ed Alpine ski and indoor track coaches are sought. At Greely High, there are openings for a girls’ ice hockey head coach and assistant coach, as well as a swimming co-ed assistant coach and a co-ed Nordic ski varsity coach. Frozen Ropes tryouts upcoming

The Frozen Ropes Training Center will conduct tryouts Oct. 23 at the Portland Sports Center on Warren Avenue, beginning at 12 p.m. for their U-13 and U-14 travel baseball teams. FMI, 878-2600 or frozenropes.com/portland.

Seacoast United tryouts upcoming

Seacoast United Maine’s Junior Academy program is holding tryouts Thursdays Sept. 23 and Oct. 7 at Portland’s Armory on Stevens Avenue. Boys go from 4 to 5:30 p.m., girls from 5:30 to 7 p.m. There will also be tryouts at the SUSC Maine Indoor Arena in Topsham Monday, Sept. 27 and Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (for both boys and girls).
