Falmouth Youth Soccer registration

Registration for the Fall 2011 Falmouth Youth travel soccer program will be held online from April 1-15. Any child who turns 8 prior to July 31 is eligible to play. There will also be a registration night at the Plummer/Motz School library March 30 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. FYSA evaluations for U-13 and U-14 only will be held in mid-May. FMI, falmouthsoccer.org.

Portland Porpoise offerings

The Portland Porpoise swim club is offering a high school prep program this spring for swimmers who wish to continue their conditioning. Training will focus primarily on stroke technique and drills and general aerobic conditioning. The session runs April 25 through June 22. Practices are Sunday from 2-3:30 p.m., and Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00 p.m., at the Riverton Pool in Portland. There will also be open assessments and registration for new swimmers through May at the Riverton Community Center in Portland for children ages 6-8 interested in competitive swimming. Hockey benefit upcoming

The Southern Maine Law Enforcement All-Stars hockey team will play the Bath Ironworks Iron Clad team in a benefit game for the Baxter School for the Deaf April 10 at  1 p.m. at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Senior Softball League seeks new team

The Greater Portland Senior Men Softball League seeks players for a new team to join the league. Players must turn 50 before the end of 2011 and the league has special rules help avoid injuries. Pitch, Hit and Run competition coming to Freeport

The Aquafina Pitch, Hit and Run competition, the official skills competition of Major League Baseball, will be held Sunday, May 8 at 12 p.m. (registration is at 11:30 a.m.) at Freeport Middle School. The free competition is for boys and girls, ages 7-14. The winners advance to the Sectionals and ultimately, Nationals and will have a chance to play during All-Star Weekend in July. FMI, 865-6171.
