Yarmouth Little Leaguers eliminated

The Yarmouth 11- and 12-year-old Little League team – the District 6 and State of Maine champions – was eliminated last week from the New England Regional in Bristol, Conn. Yarmouth opened with a 5-2 loss to Goffstown, N.H., bounced back to defeat Barre, Vt., 9-1, then were pushed to the brink of elimination with a 10-1 loss to Fairfield, Conn. Last Tuesday, Yarmouth played a make-or-break contest against Andover, Mass., and lost, 5-3.

Freeport Middle School preseason football schedule

The Freeport Middle School football team will receive its equipment Sunday at 6 p.m. at Pownal Road Field. The first day of practice is Monday, from 4-6:30 p.m. The team will practice at that time every weekday through Thursday, Sept. 1. FMI, sickelsc@rsu5.org.

Casco Bay Sports fall offerings

Casco Bay Sports has open registration for Sunday flag football, frostbite softball, golf and tennis leagues, as well as Wednesday co-ed bowling, starting in September. Outdoor soccer, basketball, volleyball and dodgeball leagues are also offered. FMI, cascobaysports.com.
