NYA Wounded Warrior benefit lacrosse game Saturday

North Yarmouth Academy’s boys’ lacrosse team is hosting two-time defending Class A state champion Scarborough Saturday at 11 a.m. in a benefit for the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors. Admission won’t be charged, but donations are encouraged. A military color guard and speakers from active duty and retired military will be part of the program. Cumberland youth lacrosse clinic Saturday

Local players make girls’ lax Maine team roster

Falmouth’s Alex Bernier, Angela Mallis and Geneva Waite and Greely’s Julia Mitiguy made the Maine girls’ lacrosse team roster. The squad will compete in the U.S. Women’s Division National Lacrosse Tournament in Long Island, N.Y., during Memorial Day weekend.

Coaches vs. Cancer benefit games planned

High schools across the state are teaming up with the American Cancer Society to host Coaches vs. Cancer baseball and softball games May 22-26. Teams interested in taking part should contact Erika Gould, 373-3728 or erika.gould@cancer.org.

Golf Card comes to Portland

The Junior Golf Card program is coming to the Greater Portland area. The card saves youths ages 17-and-under 50 percent off (unlimited use) at over 19 partnering golf courses in Maine, plus other golf related discounts and is valid for the entire 2012 season. It is available at the Golf & Ski Warehouse in Scarborough, Maine and online at juniorgolfcards.com for only $29. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the cards will benefit the First Tee of Maine.

Downeast Lacrosse Camp taking registration

The Downeast Lacrosse Camp, led by Yarmouth girls’ varsity coach Dorothy Holt, current Colby College player Lucy Gerrity and former and current members of the Clippers will be held June 18-22 at the Yarmouth High turf field. The camp is for girls entering grades 3-9 and will run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuition is $122, which includes a T-shirt. There will also be a co-ed Sticklets camp for boys and girls entering grades K-2, which runs from 3:30-4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 9 to 10 a.m., Friday. That camp is run by Yarmouth junior varsity coach Jill Thomas and will be held at the YHS field hockey field. Tuition is $50 and includes a T-shirt. FMI, 846-2406 or yarmouthcommunityservices.org.
