Greely girls’ soccer coach steps down

Greely girls’ soccer coach Michael Kennedy, who led the Rangers to 57 victories, including at least one in each of his five seasons, stepped down last week, citing his increased workload and a desire to spend more time with family.

“I didn’t make this decision lightly, as I know many of the current players will be disappointed,” said Kennedy, in an e-mail. “Change is always difficult, but I know that the girls will adjust over time and thrive with a new start. They are a very special group of young ladies and I will miss them more than they know. I truly appreciate the support I’ve received from the administration, (athletic director) David Shapiro and many of you in the (Greely girls’ soccer) family over the years. I will miss coaching the girls very much, but wish all of you the best of luck in the future.”
