SCARBOROUGH — Motorcycle enthusiasts are already revving their engines for the 2009 Normand J. Audie Memorial Motorcycle Ride scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15. Bikers will begin at Five Points Shopping Center, 420 Alfred St. (Route 111) in Biddeford and ride a 50-mile course, with police escort, through Saco, Buxton, Gorham, Scarborough, Old Orchard Beach and back to Biddeford.

When riders return at about noon, there will be a barbecue and music.

Registration is $10 and begins at 7 a.m. at the shopping center and breakfast is available. Take-off will be promptly at 10 a.m. Pre-registration and more information are available on the Web site, NormAudie.org.

Last year, more than 300 motorcyclists from all over northern New England rode in the event. Organized by Bruce Audie, the event helps provide scholarship money in honor of Bruce’s son Normand, who was killed in 2006 by a drunk driver.
