FREEPORT — Norma G. Spaulding, 74, died unexpectedly on Dec. 9. 

On May 10, 1935, she was born in New Gloucester, the eldest of eight children of Georgette and Walter H. Spaulding.

She took delight in how both her maiden and married name was Spaulding and that she and her husband shared the same birthday.

She briefly worked in the shoe industry until her true calling as a homemaker for her husband Dwight and daughter Janice. 

Her hobbies included playing Beano at Topsham Fairgrounds and OTB at Cook’s Corner, where she made many friends. 

She will be remembered as a unique, strong-willed person who had a great sense of humor and loved her family above all.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Dwight Spaulding of Freeport; her daughter Janice Jordan and her husband William of Pownal; three grandchildren, William Jordan, Jr. and his wife Donika of Pownal, Ryan Jordan and his fiancee Amanda Brown of Pownal and Sarah Dube and her husband Tom of Topsham; her four great-grandchildren, Eliza, Karver, Wyatt and Emma; three brothers, Stanley Spaulding and his wife Ann of Topsham, John Spaulding and his wife Lydia of Cumberland, Ronald Spaulding of Florida, her sister Joanne Kemberling and her husband Cliff of Woolwich; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Monday.

Arrangements are by Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.
