Marjorie C. Anderson, 84: Former Coastal Manor nursing director
AUBURN — Marjorie C. (Westcott) Anderson, 84, formerly of Yarmouth, died June 18 at Clover Health Care Center.
Born in Boston, Mass., on July 1, 1925, she was the only daughter of John A. and Marjorie (Mullhaney) Westcott.
After graduating from Notre Dame Academy in 1943, she become a nurse cadet and was trained at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.
She met her future husband, Leland S. Anderson, in New York City. They were married on May 24, 1947, and moved to Yarmouth, where they spent the rest of their married life together until his death in 1997.
Later on she lived in Poland with one of her daughters.
She worked at Coastal Manor in Yarmouth for 15 years until she retired as the director of nursing.
For approximately 58 years she was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yarmouth.
Her hobbies included knitting, reading and quilting. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are her nine children, Leland S. Anderson III and Jan Desmarais of Freeport, Jeanne Wright and her husband Brian of Poland, Peggy McKeone and her husband Robert of Flowery Branch, Ga., Clifford Anderson and his wife Dorothy of Poland, Glenn Anderson and his wife Vicki-Lyn of Lyman, Joel Anderson and Ann Gagne of Poland, Posy Gillespie and her husband Kevin of Casco, Jamie Anderson and Cathy Jones of Raymond, and Matthew Anderson and his wife Whitney of Freeport; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held in Yarmouth earlier this week.
