Deborah J. Kelley, 49: Enjoyed helping others, gardening
BATH — Deborah J. Kelley, 49, died unexpectedly at her home on May 7.
Born in Bath on Oct. 24, 1960, a daughter of Raymond and Marilyn Fraser Bailey, she attended local schools.
In 1997 she graduated with honors from University of Maine with a degree in social work.
For several years she worked for the Department of Health and Human Services as a case worker in child protective services.
She was later accepted into the accelerated program at University of Southern Maine, graduating with honors with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
On March 20, 2004, she married Peter J. Kelley and made their home in Bath.
She loved spending time with family and friends, working in her gardens and enjoyed helping others.
She was a wonderful mother to her two sons and grandmother to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Peter J. Kelley of Bath; two sons, Edwin Morton and his wife Amanda of Brunswick and Nolan Morton of Lewiston; her mother Marilyn Hunt of Bath, and her father, Raymond Bailey of Bath, a sister, Cindy Brydon and her husband Malcolm of Hancock and a brother, Raymond Bailey and his wife Kathy of Bath; four grandchildren, Austin Morton, Destiny Morton, Damon Morton and Darius Morton; and best friends, Sue Ayer of Topsham and Jan Lufkin of Brunswick.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 15, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at her home at 104 Winship St., Bath.
