Leslie F. Paige, 94
BRUNSWICK — Leslie Frederick Paige, 94, died Dec. 11 at the Bodwell House in Brunswick.
Born on June 30, 1915, he was the ninth of 11 children born to Reginald and Rhoda Paige of Portsmouth, England.
After attending local schools, he joined the Royal Navy at age 15 and served for several years.
During World War II he worked in airplane design and construction at night in underground bunkers and served on the Home Guard during the daytime throughout the Blitz.
In 1948 he moved with his wife, Agnes, and two sons, Christopher and Roger, to Toronto, Canada, where he worked for Linkbelt and his third son, John was born in 1950.
The family moved back to Portsmouth, England in 1955 while he worked for the government on the atom bomb.
In 1966 he moved with his wife and youngest son John to Westfield, Mass., and worked for Berkshire Industries until his retirement in 1980.
Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Maine to be closer to family.
For many years, he and his wife wintered in Daytona Beach, Fla.
He was predeceased by his wife Agnes.
Surviving are his three sons, John, his wife Lee and grandchildren Ian, David and Bonnie of Brunswick; son Christopher and his wife Valerie and grandson Matthew Paige of Saskatoon, Canada; and son Roger of Edinburgh, Scotland, and grandson Richard Paige and his wife Angelika Giester of York, England.
Funeral services are private.
