Albert J. Moreau, 79: Portland Water District employee for nearly 40 years

PORTLAND — Albert Joseph Moreau, 79, a longtime resident of Falmouth, died Oct. 13 at Maine Medical Center after a short illness.

Born in Waterville on Sept. 22, 1930, he was the son of Harvey and Mildred Moreau.

While attending school in Falmouth he worked at Skillins Greenhouse.

He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War,

Upon his return from the service, he worked as a heavy equipment operator at the Portland Water District for 38 years. A hard-working employee, he always responded to an emergency call regardless of the weather or his schedule.

In his spare time, he was a member of the Holiday Rambler Recreational Club, enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time at his camp in Rangeley. An avid skier, he continued to ski at Saddleback Mountain well into his 70s.

He was a loving father and a devoted husband.

He was predeceased by his brother, Harvey Moreau Jr.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Lorraine (Hamilton); two children, Katherine Lambert of Goodyear, Ariz., and Scott Moreau of Fall River, Mass.; two grandsons, Matthew and Christian Voltas-Moreau, both of Dighton, Mass.; and two sisters-in-law, Joanne Hamilton and Patricia Bernard, both of Falmouth.

Memorial services were held last weekend.
