Portland last week officially opened the William A. Goodman Playspace at Deering Oaks Park, where kids can run, jump, rock, slide, swing and climb. Here, 2-year-old Finn gets a little help from his mother jumping off a rocking lobster. The play area, named after the city engineer who designed the park in 1879, cost an estimated $325,000 and was funded in part by capital improvement funds from the Community Development Block Grant program.
