Roger N. Meunier, 82: Lived life with exuberance
HARPSWELL — Roger N. Meunier, 82, died peacefully on Aug 8 with family beside him after battling pancreatic cancer.
He was born in North Troy, Vt., on Aug. 20, 1926, the son of Lawrence and Rose (Fillion) Meunier.
During World War II, he served on a mine sweeper in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy.
On June 7, 1979, he married Sharon Lee Perry in Kennebunk. They lived for several years in Canterbury, N.H., before moving to Maine in 1985.
He owned and operated Lake Memphremagog Campground near Newport, Vt., and later owned several construction-related businesses.
He was a former trustee at Unity College.
He loved life and did everything with exuberance. His passions included music, camping, traveling in his motor home, cooking, and running errands with his favorite pal, Arabella the dog. He especially enjoyed entertaining and celebrating holidays with his family.
He was predeceased by a son, Gregory Meunier.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Meunier of Harpswell; a brother, Phil Meunier and his wife Phyllis of Washington; six children, Gail Junso of Denver, Colo., Boyd Smith and his wife Annette Zamarchi of Concord, N.H., Barbara Meunier of Topsham, Laurie Boudreau and her husband Bernie of Addison, Vt., Travis Wagner and his wife Amelia Randolph of Portland, and Thomas Meunier and his wife Jan of Florida; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date this fall.
