Moses named asst. principal at Deering HS
PORTLAND — An educator who began his career in the city has returned to serve as assistant principal at Deering High School.
James Moses replaces David Shapiro, who retired this year after 21 years in the position.
Moses was most recently the director of the Hollis Learning Center, an alternative education program of School Administrative District 6. SAD 6 includes Buxton, Hollis, Limington and Standish.
Moses began his career in the 1970s as a teacher assistant at Deering and Lincoln Junior High, now Lincoln Middle School. Moses also taught social studies and history at Bonny Eagle High School and directed the Center for Continuous Learning in SAD 51.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree and a master's degree in educational leadership from the University of Southern Maine.
