Verizon gets OK to use Freeport water tower
FREEPORT — The town is considering an agreement with Verizon Wireless for a new cellular antenna.
Town councilors on Tuesday approved letting the wireless company put an antenna on an existing water tower on Winston Hill Drive. Before the agreement can be finalized it must go through the planning process, Town Manager Peter Joseph said.
Verizon would be the fourth cellular service provider to have an antenna on that water tower, and other towers in town have antennas on them, too. Joseph called the practice "a long-standing tradition" in Freeport.
