The Seacoast United U-17 boys' soccer team, comprised of several players from Forecaster Country, once again fell just short of its ultimate goal at the US Youth Soccer Region I tournament. Seacoast lost in the championship game in 2006 and 2008 and fell again in the final at the tournament in West Virginia, 2-0 (in overtime) to YMS Xplosion of Eastern Pennsylvania. Seacoast (which went 25-9-10) finished the year ranked sixth in the country and fourth in Region I. The squad has gone undefeated over the past four years in Maine State Cup play and has won the Cup four years running. Prior to losing in the final of the Region I tournament, Seacoast defeated Vermont (5-0), Western New York (4-0) and Connecticut (2-1), while tying Western Pennsylvania (2-2).
