SMCC baseball continues strong start
The Southern Maine Community College baseball team is off to a 5-1 start (2-1 in the Yankee Small College Conference) after sweeping a doubleheader at New Hampshire Technical Institute (3-0, 4-3) Saturday and beating Navy Prep (6-2) Sunday. The Seawolves go to Eastern Maine CC Thursday. Softball won its first two games, then fell to 2-2 after losing a pair of NHTI (7-3 and 8-7). SMCC is at EMCC Thursday. On the pitch, the women fell to 1-2-1 after a 3-2 (double overtime) loss to visiting U. Maine-Machias. The Seawolves go to Unity Saturday. The men sat 1-3-1 after a 2-1 home loss to U. Maine-Machias. SMCC is at EMCC Wednesday. Golf has split a pair of matches against U. Maine-Augusta. The Seawolves host a match verus UMA and Great Bay CC Saturday at Sable Oaks.
Trail to Ale upcoming
Portland Trails will host its largest fundraiser, the Trail to Ale 10K race and walk Sunday. The race starts on the Eastern Prom, goes on to Bayside Trail, around the Back Cove and back to the Eastern Prom trail. There will be a post-race party.
