Douglas Harold Biggs Jr., 59

BRUNSWICK — Douglas Harold Biggs Jr., 59, died April 10 after a six-month battle with leukemia.

He was born March 27, 1955, in Passaic, N.J., to Douglas and Joan Biggs. He was raised in Bricktownship, N.J., where he stayed until age 18 when he joined the Navy.

Many people knew him as a man who served his country in the Navy for eight years, and was proud to be a radar operator on P3 Orions. He was a salesman for Honeywell and a sales manager for Siemens Building Technologies. He was known as a die hard Yankees, Green Bay Packers and Notre Dame fan with a passion for photography. He woke up every day and made sure he fulfilled whatever responsibilities or obligations were on his mental calendar. He was an old-school family man full of love, wit and humor. He married his best friend, built a home with her that they raised their children in.

He is survived by his wife of almost 35 years, Patricia Weed Biggs; daughter, Ashley Wright and husband, Jeff; son, Dustin Biggs and wife, Kari; grandson, Evan Johnson; two sisters. Linda Jones and Tracy Biggs; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

There was a private burial April 18 at Simpson Cemetery, Brunswick. A memorial service was held April 19 at the Durham Friends Meeting in Durham, followed by a gathering.

His family is asking that donations be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Jimmy Fund, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168, or the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, care of Maine Medical Center, 22 Bramhall St., Portland, ME 04102.

The family thanks you for all donations made in the help for finding a cure for this disease.
