Bath theater battles winter blues with 'Cabin Fevah Relievah'

BATH — The weather outside may be frightful, but it should be delightful inside the Chocolate Church Arts Center on Saturday, Feb. 22.

That's when the Studio Theatre of Bath is presenting "Cabin Fevah Relievah," an evening of song, dance, comedy, improvisation and drama, to chase the below-freezing blues away.

The event, whose organizers hope will be the first of many in years to come, will be held in the Curtis Room of the arts center, 804 Washington St., at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 a person, available at the door, and come with a flower lei. There will also be a cash bar.

Audience participation is part of the show, and attendants are encouraged to bring sunglasses and wear Hawaiian shirts in order to get into the warm-weather spirit. There'll be flamingos in the mix, too.

"We really hope (the audience will) just have such a great time that they lose track of what's outside," Tamara Lilly, a Studio Theatre board member, said Wednesday.

Two months ago Studio Theatre presented "Twisted Christmas," which it described as a "nice and naughty evening of entertainment." The success of the songs, skits and audience participation at that party-like event inspired Saturday's show.

"The plan is that we'll do this kind of 'beat the winter blues' event each year," Lilly said.
