PORTLAND – Richard Lee Roberts, 42, of Portland, died June 6 at Mercy Hospital.
Roberts was born in Portland, the son of Donald and Bernice Roberts. He was educated in Portland and Gorham schools.
He met the love of his life, Erica Shaw, at the stock car races. They were married on Sept. 3, 1993.
Roberts worked for New England Truck Tire for 25 years, most recently as the plant foreman. He was known for his hard work and dedication, and was the “go-to” person who knew the ins and outs of the business.
He enjoyed NASCAR and loved going to the races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He was a great bass fisherman and always caught more fish than anyone he was with. He was an avid hunter and just loved being outdoors. He enjoyed camping every weekend with his buddies and family. He had a great appreciation of nature, whether it was the trees, sunsets or the water. His friends and family are going to miss the daily text message from Rick just to say hello or show what he was eating for dinner. He loved his cats, Katie, Chloe and Bianca.
Roberts had a great devious laugh and was a wonderful uncle who loved fireworks, keeping everyone on edge.
