The annual benefit to help Preble Street in Portland began with a stop at the middle school, where students collected about 1,500 nonperishable food items. The bus, staffed by South Portland and University of Southern Maine students, along with staff from Preble Street and radio station WYNZ, stopped at schools in Scarborough, Portland and South Portland on Monday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, donations were accepted at Hannaford Bros. stores in Portland and South Portland, and everything was delivered to Preble Street on Wednesday.
