Gideon smashes James in House District 106
FREEPORT — Former Town Councilor and Democrat Sara Gideon will serve her first term in House District 106 after dwarfing her Republican challenger, Jody James.
In a race that pitted a local politician and former marketer against a small-town banker, Gideon topped James 3,260 to 1,668.
Gideon will represent Freeport and part of Pownal.
Incumbent Rep. David Webster, D-Freeport, was barred from running for re-election because he exhausted his term limits for the seat after four terms.
Gideon resigned from her seat on the Town Council in early October after moving out of the district she represented.
