Edward Torrey Sr., 76
BRUNSWICK — Edward Torrey Sr., 76, died April 13 at Mid Coast Hospital.
He was born in Bath on March 14, 1933, a son of J. Haviland and Bernice (Worrey) Torrey.
In 1952, he graduated from Morse High School and subsequently served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married Kathleen Grover in Bath on June 12, 1971.
For years, he worked for Bath Iron Works in the tin shop until his retirement.
He enjoyed dancing, traveling, and was known for his lawn ornaments. A skilled woodworker, he enjoyed crafting animal-shaped coin banks and selling them at local fairs.
He was a life member of the Bath Lodge of Elks and Smith-Tobey American Legion Post 21.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Torrey and Joseph Torrey, and a sister, Martha Hayward.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen of 37 years; sons, Edward Jr., and his wife Lisa Torrey of Woolwich, Donald and his wife Rachel Torrey of Lisbon, and John Torrey and his companion Celeste of Farmingdale, daughter, Debra and her husband Richard Bergeron of Ashway, R. I.; stepdaughters, Denise and her husband David Cromwell of Topsham and Doreen and her husband Theodore Peacock of Lakeland, Fla.; a brother, Frank and his wife Marion Torrey of Bath; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services were held last week.
