Barbara P. Hagerthy, 77

BATH — Barbara P. Hagerthy, 77, of Englewood, Fla., died Aug. 19 at her summer residence in Small Point.

Hagerthy was born in Bath on Sept. 24, 1934, the daughter of William and Edith (Shorey) Parks. She grew up in Bath, graduating from Morse High School, class of 1953. At Morse, she starred in a production of "Mohiba," where Dana Hagerthy fell in love with her as she sang. The couple was married on May 8, 1953.

Hagerthy was the owner and founder of a popular Bath clothing store, Hagerthy’s Casuals. She later founded the Dancing Bear Boutique. She enjoyed running her businesses and was an avid bingo player. She also was a member and past president of the Bath Emblem Club, and sang in her church choir. 

Hagerthy loved spending her spare time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a caring person who always thought about everyone else before herself. After retirng, Hagerthy and her husband moved in 2002 to Englewood, Fla., where she loved the sunshine.  

Hagerthy is predeceased by her brother, William Fredrick Parks.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dana, of Phippsburg; daughter Pamela Edwards and her husband, Russell, of Bath; daughter Tamara Bryan and her husband, Edver, of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; daughter Cama Hagerthy and her companion, Alex Logan, of Boothbay Harbor; son Dana Hagerthy II and his companion, Shelby Hall, of Bath; daughter Barbara Holbrook and her husband, Charles Jr., of Phippsburg; grandchildren Ocean Dreves, Brent Holbrook, Hope Logan, Liz Holbrook, Connor Hagerthy and Magen Hagerthy; and nieces Kelli Small, of Woolwich, and Ginger Parks, of Florida.
