Annual Topsham Fair to celebrate summer starting Aug. 5
TOPSHAM — Summer's in the air, and in Topsham all is fair.
The 160th Topsham Fair kicks off Tuesday, Aug. 5, and wraps up Sunday, Aug. 10. The event follows two days of free harness racing Sunday and Monday, Aug. 3 and Aug. 4, at 5 p.m. each day.
Admission, which includes rides, is $10 during most the fair, and $12 on Saturday, Aug. 9. Children under 3 feet tall get in for free. Entry for senior citizens is $3 on Tuesday, and is half off for children of military families on Sunday.
Among Tuesday's offerings are harness racing at 5 p.m. and ATV speed runs and "Fun Night" at 7 p.m. Harness racing will be held again Wednesday at 1 p.m., with a demolition derby following at 7 p.m.
Professional bull riding is a highlight of Thursday's events. Both that activity and sheep riding will be held at 5 p.m., followed by a goat auction show at 6 p.m. Bull riding will be held again that day at 8 p.m.
A biscuit contest inside the Exhibition Hall will take place Friday, followed by bull riding at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., and a pig scramble for 5-year-olds at 6 p.m.
Saturday's events include harness racing at 1 p.m., a demolition derby at 7 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m. If it rains, the fireworks will be postponed to the following night.
Sunday wraps things up with "Redneck Truck Pulls" at 4 p.m., and No Guts No Glory, an '80s rock band, at 5 p.m.
