Portland GOP, Greens replace candidates

PORTLAND — City Republicans and Green Independent Party members have filled openings on the November ballot caused by post-primary candidate withdrawals.

Brackett Street resident Thomas Loring is now the Republican candidate in House District 38, replacing Daniel J. Olson.

The Green Independent Party selected Lauren Besanko, of Monument Street, to replace Benjamin Schattenburg in the House District 39 race. In state Senate District 28, Owen Hill, of Eastlawn Road, replaced Danielle Unterreiner.

Thomas MacMillan, the Green Independent Party candidate in House District 38, said his party has not found a replacement for Reed Berkowitz in House District 41. The deadline for selecting a new candidate is Monday, July 28.
