Donna R. Hodgkins, 77: Passion for sports, loved to travel

BATH — Donna R. Hodgkins, 77, of Bath, died peacefully May 31 with her family by her side at Winship Green Nursing Facility.

She was born in Wiscasset on June 28, 1936, the daughter of Donald and Hulda Stewart. She was a graduate of Morse High School, Class of 1954.

On Nov. 3, 1956, she married her true love, Dale J. Hodgkins and the couple resided in Bath to raise their family. She was employed as the assistant treasurer for the Bath Water District for over 40 years, retiring in 1996.

She was a special lady with a big heart. She loved her family and they always came first in her life. She had a passion for sports, she was on the bowling league for several years, and always made time to attend her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. She also loved to travel and wanted to see the world. She will be missed by all those that loved her.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Debby Murch; and a sister, Barbara Meyer.

She is survived by her husband, Dale, of Brunswick; two sons, Richard Hodgkins, and wife, Donna, of Bath and Larry Hodgkins, of Bath; daughter, Cindy Thurston, and husband, Ray; brother, Alan Stewart, and wife, Miley, of Brunswick ; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours were held June 5 at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, Bath. A Memorial Service was held June 6 at the funeral home.
