Local soccer standouts win state crown

The Maine Coast United Portland Phoenix U-14 girls' soccer team recently won the Maine State Cup for the third straight year, defeating the Seacoast United Black Bear team, 2-1, in the final. With the victory, the squad, which includes players from all corners of Forecaster Country and beyond, earned the right to represent Maine in the Region 1 soccer tournament in Kingston, R.I., this summer.
