Vincent C. Abramo Sr., 87
BRUNSWICK — Vincent C. Abramo Sr., 87, died April 9 after a brief illness.
He was born in Boston, Mass., on July 7, 1926, to Sebastiana and Giuseppe Abramo. Later, his family resided in Medford, Mass. Following high school, he worked for Demare Brothers in Boston until his enlistment in the U.S. Army in 1950. He proudly served with the 83rd Engineering Battalion in Germany during the Korean War, until his honorable discharge in 1952.
Prior to his enlistment in the U.S. Army, he met his future wife, Marion, of Camden at a Boston YMCA dance in 1949. They married in 1952 after his discharge from the Army and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Following their marriage, Abramo graduated from Wentworth Institute while working for Melaragni Construction. They initially resided in Somerville, Mass., but moved to Melrose, Mass., in 1963 where they raised their five children. That same year he began work for Lee Kimball Kitchens. He remained with Lee Kimball until 1981, while also running his own contracting business until his retirement in 1989.
Upon retirement, the couple moved to Brunswick.
He is survived by his wife; children, Vincent C. Abramo Jr. and partner, Debbie Williams, Edith and husband, Leonard Taylor, of Cumberland, Suzanne and husband, John Crivelli, John and wife, Kathy Abramo, and Marion Abramo and husband, Donald Baumeister; five grandchildren, whom he cherished, Halley and Andrew Taylor, Danielle Abramo, and Jasmine and Ethan Baumeister.
A memorial gathering will be held at Thornton Oaks in Brunswick on May 2, at 2 p.m. Burial with full military honors at Achorn Cemetery in Rockland will be private.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick.
