Falmouth High School junior Sarah Caldwell, center, receives a letter of recognition from the state Legislature during a presentation Friday, April 18, at the school auditorium. Caldwell also received the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Silver Medallion for her volunteer work on behalf of the ALS Foundation. Caldwell, whose father died of ALS last fall, helped raise $23,000 toward finding a cure. She will be traveling to Washington, D.C., next month, where she will receive a $1,000 award at the 2014 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. Also shown, from left, are Principal Gregg Palmer, Amy Coyne of the ALS Association Northern New England Chapter, Caldwell's sister Kathryn, and her mother, Sharon Leskanic.
