Midtown opponents to hold fundraiser

PORTLAND — Opponents of the proposed Midtown Towers project on Somerset Street will hold a fundraiser for legal expenses at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Aurora Cafe, 64 Pine St.

Keep Portland Livable co-founders Peter Monro and Tim Paradis estimated as much as $75,000 will be needed to appeal Planning Board approval of the Bayside housing project.

The group has appealed the decision to Cumberland County Superior Court, where it is expected to be heard by Justice Thomas Warren this summer. A decision is anticipated by early fall.
