Marjorie Frances Marr, 93
FALMOUTH — Marjorie Frances Marr, 93, died April 2 at Sedgewood Commons, after several years of declining health.
She was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Medford, Mass., the oldest child of Edwin Badger Greenyer and Leona Merriman Greenyer. She grew up in Malden, Mass., and attended local schools, graduating from Malden High School as a member of the National Honors Society and the Latin Honor Society in 1939.
In 1940, she married Arthur A. Marr Jr., living initially in Malden where their three daughters were born. Having had a life-long interest in music, she was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and often sang in church choirs as a soloist. The family moved to Newton, Mass., in 1958 where she worked at The Arc of Massachusetts, an organization advocating for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She later worked at the Marriott Hotels. Upon her and her husband’s retirements she moved to Five Islands in 1973 where the family had spent all their summer vacations.
Following her husband’s death in 1989, she moved to Bath where she became a member of the Bath Senior Citizens and Coasters. She was also a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants. She devoted much of her hand working talents of knitting, sewing, quilting and rug-braiding to the benefit of charitable organizations in the area as well as to family and friends.
She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Beecher, of Georgetown, Janet and William Evison, and Beverly and Jimmy Kennedy; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin B. and Lucy Greenyer.
