Cain named CEO in Portland Pirates restructuring

PORTLAND — Portland Pirates hockey team majority owner Ron Cain was  named managing officer and chief executive officer in a restructuring announced Feb. 28.

Cain, who became majority owner last December, replaces former majority owner Brian Petrovek, who was named president of business development. Pirates Hall of Fame player Brad Church was named chief operating officer and an alternate governor to the American Hockey League.

Team spokesman Chris Knoblock said Petrovek will be in charge of business development and revenue generation, and Church will oversee the day-to-day team activities, including the merchandising, communications and finance departments and hockey operations.

Lyman Bullard remains the Pirates’ chairman and an AHL governor.
