New baseball coach at Freeport
Freeport High School has named Bill Ridge as its new varsity baseball coach. Ridge is a special education teacher at Freeport Middle School and spent the past three seasons as the head coach of the Brunswick baseball program. Ridge replaces Hank Ogilby, who stepped down after 16 seasons.
Pickleball Classic upcoming
The 2014 Maine Pickleball Classic, a USAPA sanctioned event, will be held Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m., at Deering High School in Portland. There will be under-60 and over-60 divisions with men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. Admission is free.
