Winter festival welcomes new Mainers in Portland

Three brothers – Ezadin, left, Ishmael and Abbas Hassan – share a sled ride at Payson Park on Saturday during the 10th annual Welcome to Winter Festival. The event is meant to introduce new Mainers to winter activities and encourage year-round enjoyment of the outdoors. The Hassan brothers, of Portland, were all born in the United States after their family emigrated from Somalia 18 years ago.
