Eleanor Nappi, 89: Owned Elena's Donut Shop

YARMOUTH — Eleanor (Collins) Nappi, a life-long Yarmouth resident, died Nov. 16 in Scarborough.

She was born June 1, 1924, the daughter of Robert and Nina Collins. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church. Nearest and dearest to her were the church, the Bible and her family. It was her family and her faith that gave her great strength to get through many difficult times right up until her death.

Nappi loved the summer and all of the flowers as they came into bloom. Coming from a long line of lobstermen, she loved just getting on a boat and enjoyed the water. When she had time, she dabbled in painting and loved to relax with a good book.

Nappi and her husband, Marty, owned and operated Elena's Donut Shop in Yarmouth. She was probably best known for her home-cooked meals and pies.

She was predeceased by her husband, Martin Nappi, who died in 2008, and her sister, Marjorie Thoits.

Nappi is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Ardley Cusack Sr.; her grandsons, Stephen Cusack, and wife, Jennifer, Ralph Cusack, Ardley Cusack Jr.; granddaughter Susan Cusack; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Ellie Cusack and great-great-grandson, Jeyden Cusack.

A memorial service to celebrate Nappi's life will be held in the spring.
