Portland students compiling civil rights history
PORTLAND — Students at King Middle School are seeking residents who were connected to the civil rights movement who would like to be included in an oral history project.
Students are hoping to compile a list of interviewees by the end of December for one-hour interviews that will take place in early March.
In past projects, King Middle School students have interviewed people who participated in the March on Washington, worked for equal housing opportunities, traveled to Selma, Ala., or were part of other defining moments between 1954 and 1964.
