Portland police arrest 3 in school burglary

PORTLAND — Police made three arrests Friday in connection with an early morning burglary at Hall Elementary School.

More than a dozen computers and other items valued at $40,000 were recovered after police responded around 2:40 a.m. to a burglar alarm at the school on Orono Road, Sgt. Kevin Cashman said Friday afternoon.

Isaiah Taylor, 18, of Portland, was charged with burglary. Daniel Perez, 20, of Portland, and a 16-year-old boy were charged with criminal tresspass.

Police said they saw the suspects fleeing the school, pushing a cart loaded with computers. They made the arrests later, after finding the stolen goods inside Taylor's car.

Taylor was being held at Cumberland County Jail on $1,000 bail, and was scheduled for a court appearance on Monday. Perez was released on $100 bail. The juvenile was being held at Long Creek Correctional Facility in South Portland.

The investigation is continuing and police expect to make additional arrests, Cashman said.
