BRUNSWICK — Eileen E. Kelleher, 89, died Nov. 8 at home.

She was born Jan. 11, 1924, the daughter of Frederick Clifford and Helen Agnes Hamilton. She graduated from high school in Stamford, Conn., in 1942. She was awarded a bachelor's degree from Pratt Institute in 1946, and worked as a professional home economist until her marriage.

She married Robert L. Kelleher on July 29, 1950, in Springdale, Conn. The couple settled on Long Island, N.Y., first in Westbury and then Northport, before moving to Brunswick.

Kelleher was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 20 years and an active member of the Huntington Hospital Auxiliary.

A talented artist, Kelleher created traditional-style hooked rugs. She was a member of the Long Island Guild of Rug Crafting Artists and the National Guild of Pearl K. McGown Hookcrafters. She also was a skilled maker of beautiful hand knits, a baker and an avid reader of fiction.

She and her husband were members for many years of the Northport Historical Society and were granted lifetime membership when they moved to Maine. They were also members of the Northport Yacht Club, where she acted for several years as the entertainment committee person. She supported her husband’s interest in sailboat racing and race management with her work as a race committee member on many occasions.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert L. Kelleher, of Brunswick; two daughters, Maura E. Kelleher and Brenda A. Kelleher; son, Michael J. Kelleher and wife Denise; son, Brian R. Kelleher and wife Marne; and three grandchildren, John, Benjamin and Anna.

A memorial Mass will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, AR 72202, or heifer.org.

Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.
