Linda B. Pyles, 68: Homemaker, loved the ocean

FALMOUTH — Linda B. Pyles, 68, of Falmouth died Nov. 15 at her residence, with her family by her side.

She was born in Portland on July 26, 1945, the daughter of Rex W. and Virginia L. Barchard. She was a graduate of Yarmouth High School, class of 1965. She married John J. Pyles on Dec. 3, 1966.

She was a homemaker, a mother of three, and in more recent years a grandmother of two.

Her passion in life was taking care of her family and she enjoyed every minute she shared with her kids, grandchildren, and even her friend’s children who she would take care of when they needed someone. She loved nothing more than having the house full of her family. There was always lots of laughter and she filled the house with love. When her children were grown, she started working at Sedgwick CMS and was there for 10 years. She loved to cook and go shopping in her spare time. She enjoyed going out to dinner and going to the beach. She had a passion for the ocean and the beauty of Maine’s coastline.

She was predeceased by her parents and a son, John W. Pyles, who died of Reyes Syndrome when he was 13. She and her husband became founders of the Maine Chapter of National Reyes Syndrome Foundation. She put a lot of time and effort into raising funds and awareness to Reyes Syndrome.

She is survived by her husband, John J. Pyles, of Falmouth; daughter Julie Howland, and husband, Matt, of Brunswick; son James Pyles, and life partner, Craig Bellograph, of South Portland; sisters Diane Higgins, of Portland, and Sally Barchard, of Falmouth; two grandchildren, Rex and Gracie Howland, both of Brunswick; sister-in-law Shirley Pyles, of Falmouth; and three nieces.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of her Life Nov. 23, from 2-4 p.m. at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.
