Heather M. Lefebvre, 45

FREEPORT — Heather Marie Lefebvre, 45, died Oct. 31, with her family by her side.

She was born in Royal Oak, Mich., Oct. 5, 1968, the daughter of Edward and Jane Stearns. She graduated from Georges Valley High School in Thomaston, class of 1986. She went on to further her education, graduating in 1990 with a bachelor's from the University of Southern Maine, Gorham, and in 2000 with her master's in education.

On June 24, 1995, she married Garett Edward Lefebvre at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, Portland. The couple resided in Freeport to raise their family.

She was employed by Brunswick Public Schools as an elementary school teacher from 1991 to 2001 until her twin girls were born and she wanted to be an stay-at-home mom.

She loved summers at the family camp on Little Sebago Lake, spending time with family and friends there as often as she could. She also enjoyed volunteering at her boy's football games in the snack shack and anywhere else help was needed. She always found time to volunteer in each of her children's classrooms at Freeport Public Schools. She loved to help teach kids to read, being an avid reader herself, she would often check out books at the library, reading each one in a day.

She is survived by her husband, Garett, of Freeport; children Edward Garett Lefebvre, Reilly Jane Lefebvre, Kerry Marianne Lefebvre and Cort Joseph Lefebvre, all of Freeport; brother Peter Stearns; two sisters, Katie Stearns-Collier, of Portland, and Jeanne Costigan, of Durham; and nieces and nephews, Adam Stearns, Casey Stearns, Clint Lefebvre and Evelyn Costigan.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the friends and family who helped out with the children, giving them rides to their events and helping out with dinner. And to the nurses and case managers at Chans Home Healthcare, Maine Medical Center, where she spent so many weeks, InterMed Yarmouth and Dr. Pierce, and Bodwell Hospice at Mid-Coast in Brunswick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Nov. 7, at 11 a.m., at St. Jude Catholic Church, Freeport. A small reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made in her name to Boy Scouts of America or Alcoholics Anonymous.
