Letter: What's missing from Waterfront Protection Ordinance

The Protect South Portland organization uses the phrase "Protect our Health from Tar Sands" on the posters that have been placed around the city.

If one reads the Waterfront Protection Ordinance, the words "protect," "health," "tar" and "sands" are nowhere to be found.

If the true purpose of the Waterfront Protection Ordinance is to protect the health of South Portland residents from the supposed ill effects of tar sands, then wouldn't those words be included in the ordinance?

Consider the true intent of this ordinance and vote no.
