Letter: 'Think (and vote) Hinck' for Portland City Council

I've known Jon Hinck for nearly 10 years. I am glad that he is running for an at-large seat on the Portland City Council. I support him.

I am a retired English professor. I have mostly been an observer from the ivory tower. Jon impresses me with his commitment to achieve results and get good public policy outcomes. He wants to make government work for the regular people and believes that it can happen. I have seen Jon's pragmatic approach. He is patient, principled and level-headed. I would also describe Jon as non-ideological, resolutely big-hearted and astutely compassionate. If elected, I would expect Jon to champion open, inclusive and transparent government, protect public education from the privatization movement and work to assure that taxpayers get what they pay for.

I support Jon and will post a "Think Hinck" sign on the front of my house. Please consider this endorsement.
