Sandsations returns to Pine Point Beach

SCARBOROUGH — Registrations are being accepted for the fifth annual Sandsations fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m., Sept. 14, at Pine Point Beach.

The sand-sculpting contest raises money for Portland-based Birth Roots, a nonprofit organization that supports families through pregnancy and the first year of parenting with non-clinical programs and events.

Teams of up to five people will have two hours to create sand sculptures at the event. Prizes will be awarded by judges, by popular vote and to the team that raises the most money. This year's fundraising goal is $15,000.
