Margaret C. "Peg" Miller, 85

YARMOUTH — Margaret "Peg" Miller, 85, died July 19 at Sedgewood Commons, in Falmouth.

She was born June 16, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., to John Cook, an organ pipe builder, and his wife, Gertie.

She grew up in Methuen and Beverly, Mass., and Newmarket, N.H. She graduated in 1950 from Kent State University and stayed in Ohio to begin her teaching career. In 1964, she and her family moved to Yarmouth, where she taught high school and junior high English for several years. She then became a potter, working with her husband for many, many years in their own home-based business.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed belonging to a book club. She was an active member of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Yarmouth for many years and especially enjoyed working with the youth group.

She also loved gardening, cooking, flower arranging, weaving, jewelry design and basketmaking.

Miller is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dick Miller, of Yarmouth; son Garth Miller, of Cornish; daughter Leslie Miller, of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren, Bo Miller and Diego Miller-Navarro.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Sedgewood commons for the wonderful, kind service they provided Miller in the last three years of her life. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
