PHS Football seeking Hall of Fame nominations
The Portland High football program is starting a Hall of Fame and is seeking nominations for its inaugural class. The public is encouraged to nominated players, coaches, contributors, etc., by Aug. 15. The inaugural class of five will be announced the night before the annual Portland-Deering Thanksgiving football game. To nominate, contact current Bulldogs coach Jim Hartman at email@example.com.
Officials training course upcoming
The Western Maine Board of Soccer Officials is conducting their annual New Officials Training Course Saturday at the Gorham Municipal Center's Recreation Department. The one-day clinic is followed by several on-field training sessions with seasoned officials. There is a small fee. Lunch and rulebooks are provided. The Board provides officials for all middle school, freshman, JV and varsity soccer in York and Cumberland counties. Southern Maine Flame tryouts upcoming
The Southern Maine Flame softball program is holding tryouts for the 2014 season Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 25 at 3 p.m. at Wainwright Farms in South Portland. A $20 fee is required. FMI, southernmaineflame.com.
