Nomination papers soon available in Cape Elizabeth, South Portland, Scarborough
SOUTH PORTLAND — Nomination papers for the Nov. 5 local elections will be available July 29 in Cape Elizabeth, July 31 in South Portland, and Aug. 7 in Scarborough.
The papers can be picked up at the town and city halls.
In Cape Elizabeth, seats held by Town Councilors Frank Governali and Caitlin Jordan, and School Board members Michael Moore and Mary Townsend, will be up for election. All are for three-year terms.
Potential candidates must submit at least 25 and up to 100 signatures of registered voters by the Sept. 6, 4 p.m., deadline.
In South Portland, interested candidates must submit at least 100 signatures of registered voters between Aug. 26 and 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 9. At-large City Council seats held by Mayor Tom Blake and Councilor Al Livingston are on the ballot, along with District 1, District 2 and at-large School Board seats held by Rick Carter, Sara Goldberg and Mary House, respectively. All seats have three-year terms.
In Scarborough, Town Council seats held by Chairman Ron Ahlquist and Vice Chairwoman Judy Roy will be on the ballot, as will the Board of Education seat held by John Cole and a School Board seat left vacant by the resignation of Aymie Hardesty. Scarborough Sanitary District Board of Trustees seats now hold by Herbert Waldron and David Nelson are also up for election.
Interested Scarborough candidates have until Sept. 4 to submit at least 25 and no more than 100 signatures of registered voters.
