RSU 5 must replace special education director

FREEPORT — The special education director in Regional School Unit 5 is resigning to become superintendent of schools in Pittsfield, Burnham and Detroit.

Dominic DePatsy, director of instructional support, was expected to resign at the RSU 5 School Board meeting Wednesday night. He is scheduled to begin his new position in School Administrative District 53 on July 1.

RSU 5 Superintendent Shannon Welsh said the Freeport-Durham-Pownal schools began advertising for a new curriculum director this week and hopes to have the position filled by July.
